Redline Smalltalk on the Podcast
I'll be talking to James Ladd about his Redline Smalltalk project this week - it'll be released into the IM stream on Sunday.

I've just launched a new screencast series on Javascript - you can keep up with it on the archive page. I'll be continuing with the Smalltalk series as well. My plan at present is to alternate by day. So you'll see a screencast a day, on either Smalltalk or Javascript. Enjoy!

We would probably be recording (and releasing) another edition of "That Podcast" today, but it's time for the annual Halloween party around here. Never fear though - we'll have one out sometime tomorrow, I think :) |

Michael and I had some scheduling issues yesterday, but never fear - another episode of "That Podcast" should be coming tonight or tomorrow morning :)

One of the issues I had with the screencasts I was doing for Cincom was that the Windows ones often had frame skipping problems. It turns out that tyhis was due to a simple mistake I made in configuring the VM.
When you have a VM stopped, you can edit the settings. One of those deals with optimization - should your system favor native (OS X) apps, or the VM? The default is to favor the VM. This is great if you're playing a game, or running a fairly intense Windows app, but it's not so good if you are using a Mac App to capture the Windows screen.
The solution? Simple - just flip the optimization over to favor OS X apps. That solved the frame drops for me nicely.

Since I'm no longer at Cincom, the "Industry Misinterpretations" podcast is at an end. There will be a podcast continuing on - hosted here, under the not terribly inventive name "Independent Misinterpretations".
The archives for the old work are still on the Cincom website; for your convenience, I have links to them on the archive page that's waiting for episode one here. Point your browsers and podcatchers this way on Sunday for episode 1!

We just spoke to Ernest Micklei about his soek.goodies.st site - and it turned into a broader cloud and Smalltalk source code conversation. Tune in to the next Industry Misinterpretations podcast to listen in

I'll be releasing part 2 of our podcast with Eliot Miranda tomorrow - to get part 1, head over here. Next week, we'll have a short interview I recorded with Alejandro Reimondo and Frank Lesser at Camp Smalltalk London.

The podcast is actually edited and ready to go - I'll be pushing it out tomorrow (either pretty early or pretty late, depending on how my day goes). We're having a 4th of July barbecue in the afternoon, so if you don't see it by then, look for it late Sunday night or early Monday morning.
Happy 4th of July!
